SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

Spiritual Development For many of us, spiritual development is ongoing throughout our lives. For others, it can be the beginning of a faith journey. Or, it may be a means to begin anew. No matter where or when or why, Faith Church offers a variety of Christian education programs designed to meet your spiritual needs. Here are some examples.

Sunday School: Classes for age three through adult are held each Sunday. A Bible based curriculum is central to the teachings, with an emphasis on applying the word of God to our everyday lives. Speak with Pastor Burdick about joining a class, 941-3529.

Bible Studies: All adult Bible studies are based on selected books or themes from the Bible. Studies consist of materials from various traditional and contemporary authors.   In January 2007, the Alpha Course, a Bible study addressing Christian issues and questions wasbe offered.   Our Adult Class each Sunday is studying"At Table with Jesus" by John O. Gooch.  This resource will help you to dicover why Jesus commanded that he be remembered in the breaking of bread and why the church continues to celebrate the risen Christ by gathering around the table.   In infinite wisdom God orgained that the Son should reveal the very heart of God through the meals he shared with others.  All are welcome.

Outdoor Ministries: Dunkirk Conference Center, a camp and conference center overlooking Lake Erie, offers summer camps for all ages and special interest workshops. Pastor Burdick has directed one of the week long family camps for many years. Pick up a brochure at the Faith Alive Activity Board near the sanctuary, or www.DunkirkCC.org.

Seminars, Retreats, and Workshops: South Towns Cluster of UCC Churches join together for spiritual workshops and special events. WNY Churches in Covenant also sponsor educational and spiritual events. Faith Enrichment Retreats are offered by our church, periodically, as well. Call the church office for details, 941-3529.

Local Ecumenical Services and Programs: During the summer we have combined worship services with the local United Methodist Church. Ecumenical services throughout the year include a Thanksgiving Eve Service, World Day of Prayer, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and a summer Town-wide Service. We also participate in a community Vacation Bible School.

Media Resources: Christian books, videos, and DVD’s are available to check-out. They are located in the Gathering Room across from the Sanctuary, where worship is held.
